Description
This animation shows STAT DNA binding. A STAT protein (blue) binds to a segment of DNA (beige). Signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) proteins are a family of seven proteins that regulate the transcription activity of genes. Two STAT molecules will bind together, forming a dimer that will subsequently trigger the transcription of specific genes.
