Description
The image depicts NK cells attacking a tumor. T lymphocytes (light blue) attack and destroy tumor cells or cancerous tissue (red). Specific tumor antigens are those that can provoke an immune response. Tumors occur more frequently in the neonatal period and in old age, when the immune system functions less effectively. Many tumors contain lymphoid infiltrates, and in some tumors, this may be a favorable sign.
